Review // Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Foundation & Concealer

I love wearing makeup and although I am really into my beauty products, I rarely actually switch around my daily favourites as I like to stick to what works for my super sensitive skin. Recently however, I have been very conscious that a few of the base products I use are still not of the cruelty free variety and finding suitable alternatives is a task that is harder than you might think! Buying cruelty free is something that I am passionate about though and so whenever I run out of products, I now always make sure that the replacement is cruelty free.

Recently I was very kindly sent a couple of base products from the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range to try out* and these honestly couldn't have arrived at a better time! My current foundation is almost out and a lot of sleepless nights recently have had me reaching for the concealer way more than is probably normal!

I am pretty new to Joan Collins Timeless Beauty and if you're a bit of a newbie too then you'll be happy to know that all of the products are suitable for sensitive skin (yay!), none are tested on animals (yay!) and with the exception of the eyebrow pencils, all of the products are free from parabens (yay!).

The first product I received was the First Base foundation which retails for £25.00 for a 30ml pump bottle. This foundation comes in a range of eight different shades which are suitable from fair to dark skin and in warm to cool skin tones. I went for the "warm fair" shade which is absolutely spot on to say that I ordered it blindly without trying it in person first. I love it when that happens!

I have been using this product for a few weeks now and honestly, I am super happy with it. I like a foundation that isn't oily or sits heavy on the skin and First Base ticks all the right boxes when it comes to light yet flawless natural cover. This product really does feel like a second skin as it blends effortlessly, leaving my skin feeling soft and comfortable.

For areas on my face where I feel like I need a little more coverage (I have a little redness in my cheeks I like to cover), I am able to 'build up' this product to achieve the look that I want. At the same time, if I want light coverage then this product will give me that too. Super versatile and very buildable! It's also very moisturising but not in an oily or greasy way.

I love that it sets almost instantly so that I am able to powder, blush and go without having to wait... super when I am in a hurry to get ready (every day!).

Honestly I love it!

Next up is the Fade to Perfect concealer which retails for £18.00... slightly more than I would usually pay for concealer so I had high hopes for this product! This concealer comes in three shades; light, medium and dark. I opted for the light shade to try and again, this was just perfect for my skin tone.

The Fade to Perfect concealer contains plant extracts such as Butcher's Broom, marigold, horse chestnut, licorice and Asiatic Pennyworth. It's an illuminating concealer that I have really enjoyed using under my eyes to reduce the appearance of those lack of sleep induced dark circles! This product feels very cooling and calming to apply and again, quite moisturising. It certainly does the trick in covering imperfections.

My only complaint about the Fade to Perfect concealer though is that it does feel pretty greasy upon application and takes a little while to set. Once set though, it certainly does last all day!

As a side note, I really love the packaging for both of these products. They certainly have a luxury feel and look great in my makeup bag!

I am very pleased with these two additions to my daily makeup routine, especially the First Base foundation which I will certainly look into repurchasing in the future.

  1. I'm currently switching between this foundation for a more long lasting 'heavier' base and the Maybelline Cushion Foundation. I'm really impressed with Joan Collins foundation as I expected it to be thicker and heavier on my skin than it is.
