I have always thought that Christmas is a super time to give back, and not just to the people who are closest to you.
You might have seen the hashtag #ReverseAdvent floating around on twitter over the past few weeks and so today I wanted to share a few details of what it's all about and how you can get involved.
The concept has been set-up by the Co-Op and is a simple and kind gesture to help those in need at this time of year. Grab a box and on each day of advent, pop an item inside it. Once Christmas Eve comes around, you'll have a box ready to donate to someone in need!
There are many items that you could include in your box and the contents will depend on your chosen recipient. Here are a few ideas to get you going though:
- Non-perishable food items, like tins and packets
- Toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products and other toiletries
- Nappies and baby products
- Clothing items such as socks and underwear
- First aid kits
There are so many options for things to include, many of these you may already have at home. Obviously don't include any age restricted products like cigarettes or tobacco in your box though! You could get in touch with your chosen cause or charity to see what items they can and can't accept.
Why not have a go at doing a #ReverseAdvent this year?
