Our Weekend // Burgers, concerts & Christmas trees

It's been ages since I last did one of my weekend round-up posts and because we had such a particularly ace weekend, I thought it would be time to make an effort with these posts again!

Saturday's are always a favourite in our house. We get up leisurely and eat breakfast in the living room, usually accompanied by whatever cartoons are on the TV for Miss E.
Once we were all ready, we popped out for our morning walk at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield. It was astonishingly cold but Miss E loved running through the greenhouse and trying to catch the squirrels that were following us everywhere! We neglected to bring them some food so they had to make do with the packet of mini cheddars I had stashed in my rucksack.... they didn't complain, anyway!

I was super excited for Saturday evening because it was the night of the Prodigy concert that I had been looking forwards to for months. I was a bit miffed at missing out on tickets to see them earlier in the year so when they announced a few last shows on their tour including a date in Sheffield, I was on that booking site in the blink of an eye!

& my goodness, the Prodigy were good. Public Enemy (who were supporting) were absolutely awesome too, it was such an amazing night! Literally I have no words. Musically, the Prodigy were my first real love but for one reason or another I haven't seen them live since 2002. We definitely made up for lost time though and I really hope that it isn't long until the next time!

The night was finished off perfectly with a trip to the brand new Five Guys restaurant at Valley Centertainment. We had a couple of hours to kill so I can't even tell you how much food we ate and how many drinks combos we experimented with from the freestyle machines. I'm quite the Five Guys addict so I'm real pleased we have another one in Sheffield as I blummin' hate going to Meadowhall unless it's absolutely necessary!

Sunday morning was another pretty lazy start but despite the horrendous weather forecast, we all piled into the car and headed off for a walk in Bakewell out in the Peak District. The Christmas weekend they had planned was cancelled but we still had heaps of fun nontheless.
After making an amazing amount of money on eBay this month, I decided to treat myself to a bunch of new clothes from Fat Face. Their shop in Bakewell is so well laid out. It's one of my favourite places to buy clothes, everything fits and everything is ridiculously gorgeous!

We stopped off for lunch at a new cafe in Bakewell which can be found inside the famous book shop on the corner of Matlock Street right in the centre. The sandwiches were perfect and just what we needed. Miss E devoured her gingerbread man and loved being made a fuss of by the staff!

Once we got home, I decided that it was time to get out the Christmas decorations and put the tree up. I just couldn't wait any longer! Miss E is really starting to understand the idea of Christmas and she had a blast picking out decorations and hanging them on the tree. It looks so cosy now and Miss E has been constantly fascinated by the lights since we put them up!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend too. Let me know what you got up to in a comment below!

  1. What a fun weekend you had. I have to confess I did precisely NOTHING. OK I did go to the gym twice but that was about it. And I did feed the kids at some point. I just finished a month long contract that kept me incredibly busy so I just needed the weekend to recuperate.
