I'm often asked for recommendations for places to eat and things to do, especially in the Peak District so I thought that I would start sharing some of the places that we go most often here on my blog!
Dog friendly places are really super important to us when we go out as Elsie comes along wherever we go, she is a big part of our family so we don't leave her out! With this in mind i'll mostly be focusing on our favourite places to take a dog.
This morning we were up early so decided to head out to Ashford-In-The-Water just outside Bakewell for a cooked breakfast at Aisseford Tea Room. We have been visiting Aisseford Tea Room regularly for a while now, it's certainly one of our 'favourite places' and they are very welcoming with dogs (and muddy boots if you're out walking!). I think one last year we managed 3 visits in a week, certainly a record for 'number of visits to a single place in a short amount of time' for us!
They do a great cooked breakfast, perfect for a cold winter morning and in the summer there is a gorgeous garden to sit out in complete with chickens roaming free. They are suppliers of Lovington's ice cream so we often go there on a summers afternoon for ice cream and homemade cake washed down with plenty of tea!
We have been so many times that Elsie knows the way to their door and often won't budge until we go in....
The decor inside is really cute with bunting lining the walls, chalk board menu specials, Cath Kidston wallpaper and oilcloth tablecloths. There is also a small gift shop upstairs selling 'shabby chic' style gifts and greetings cards by local artists.
The menu is hugely varied for lunch and they serve everything from jacket potatoes to steak ciabattas, I think we've sampled pretty much most of the menu and I can safely say it is all delicious! We are rather fond of the cooked breakfasts in a morning which are both delicious and filling and their pots of tea are beautifully generous!
Miss E has visited a few times now and she seems to like it too!
Afterwards we'll often have a walk round the village and give Elsie an off-lead run somewhere. In the summer we'll also sit by the river and have a little paddle in the water. It's a great little day out!
