I Love You, Blackpool....

Last week my husband and I took a much needed break and headed off to my favourite seaside town for a few days. We had previously decided that this trip would consist not only of plenty of relaxation and good food  but we also wanted to squeeze in a few of the more 'touristy' things that we haven't done in a while!

My favourite part of the trip was a special behind the scenes tour of the magnificent tower building that we booked on a particularly rainy day! We spent the afternoon with a guide who took us through many non-public areas of the building including the old circus stables, underground to see where the first bolt of the tower was fastened and into the circus ring itself.
It was a non-performance day for the circus so we got to spend a decent amount of time looking at props and seeing staff/performers busy getting ready for the weekend shows.... this was amazing for me because I am obsessed with circus shows!

During our trip we also visited the Sea Life centre and the amazing zoo as well as visiting the wonderful piers, the beach, spending endless 2p's in the amusement arcades and playing a spot of crazy golf!

The food was so great too, in particular the hotel breakfast each day (we almost always stay at the Big Blue Hotel as the buffet breakfast there is seriously the best!) and a delicious evening meal we had at The Olive Tree Brasserie in nearby St Annes that finished with the most divine ice cream sundae. Yum!

We had a lovely time and I can't wait to go back!

  4. I've not been to Blackpool since I was a child. I'd love to take my 3 year old to the the illuminations. I was also visited a sea life centre over the weekend.
    Looks like you had fun!
