A bit of a photo post....

I have had a few days off work and I just don't know where the time has gone! I had big plans of sorting things out that I have been putting off, seeing Toy Story and listing masses items on ebay but none of it has happened!
I spent most of my days painting up the stairs and the landing at my parents house to help out a bit.... it was a much bigger area than I thought and I really did bite off more than I could chew!

I have been feeling quite down recently so today I am going to share with you some of the things that are keeping me happy at the moment....

I got
this book as a wedding present from my aunt last October and we have been slowly working our way through the many sweet treats in there! This afternoon I made some apricot and banana muffins. I don't really have a sweet tooth but these don't have too much sugar in and are really sweetened by the bananas, yummy!

Trips out
Whenever my husband and I have the day off together, we mostly spend time in the Peak District. At this time of year there are always plenty of events on as well as well dressings, village fairs, etc. The flower photos below were taken at the Bath Gardens in Bakewell on our way to the "Bakewell by the sea" event at the weekend.

Our new hamster Chickpea is settling in really well! It is extremely hard to get a good photograph of him as he is still jumpy and won't sit still but we are getting there!
We thought he was long haired when we got him but his long fur seems to just grow around his back legs making him look like he is wearing furry trousers, so cute!

Car boot sales
Finally, I am going to admit to being addicted to car boot sales! This weekend we braved the rain and came home with some lovely things. Recent finds include vintage embroidered tablecloths, brand new handmade crochet blankets, old Country Living magazines and plenty of vintage animals!

  1. What a lovely post, Rebecca. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down and stairs painting is the pits!
Chickpea is a furry-trousered sweetheart, the blooms are gorgeous, the cakes are yummy and I love those cute ceramic animals.
There's a vintage fair in Matlock on 31st July. I'm hoping to be up there with the girls. Shall definately try Ashbourne on the way.

  2. Oh Rebecca, what a great name for such a cute Hamster and I love the china animals too. You should post the recipe for those banana muffins, the cases look really good, are they the silicone ones?

  3. Seeing your hamster reminded me of the ones I had as a child.

  4. Apricot & banana sound like a match made in heaven, don't think I've ever tried that before?

Chickpea looks like a lovely little chap. Fab name for him too!

  5. Chickpea is so adorable!!! And the pink roses are just beautiful!!

  6. I do hope you get to see Toy Story

I am slowly getting into baking but find it really frustrating when it goes wrong.
Car boot sales are the highlight of my summer months, the embroidered tablecloths sound wonderful.

And Chickpea, a bit of cutie indeed :)

  7. Chickpea is gorgeous. Your finds sound great - more pics please!

  8. Sorry to read you've been feeling a bit down, I am thoroughly fed-up of painting our house as well, in fact I have stopped for a bit, similar to you I need to find 'happy' projects to keep me balanced. I can imagine a staircase is a huge project but it's very kind of you to offer and I'm sure it'll look great once done.

Lovely photos, Chickpea is a cutie!

  9. Lovely post Becky - I too have volunteered to help mum paint the (Newly plastered) hall stairs and landing and am bitterly regretting doing so! I can't wait to see Toy Story. xxx

  10. I am happy to have discovered your blog! Next time I am doing a craft fair, make yourself known. Did you go to craft candy? Where do you remember plouf! from?!! Elodie

He does look a little bit long haired too :)

  14. LOVE the animals! I've had a whole week off and have done nothing productive. Today has been spent cleaning, doing the washing and catching up on blogs, all of which I should've done during my week off! Aaah - work tomorrow! x

  15. I am so jealous of those ceramic deers, i really want a pair of cats! Hope your feeling brighter, your blog is fab and similar things make me feel happy too! Apart from i've got 2 cats Beryl and Arthur that make me smile!
